Camins de Vent, school for hot air balloon pilots approved by AESA
Camins de Vent is since 6th August 2019 a DTO (Declared Training Organisation) by the Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea (AESA). The approved DTO allows Camins de Vent to train pilots to obtain the hot air balloon pilot license as the regulation Part-FCL dictates. This license allows to fly as a private pilot in festivals and competitions or as a comercial pilot flying passengers as a profession.
If the pilot wants to obtain the commercial license to be able to fly with passengers, it will have to follow the regulations and obtain the necessary experience hours flying and obtaining the regulatory verifications of competition.
The training consist in a theoretical and practical training course to achieve all the necessary knowledge about the hot air balloon and the external and internal agents that interfer during a hot air balloon flight.
Firstly there is a theoretical course, where the student learns about EASA (European Union Aviation Agency) and AESA (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea) legislation. There is also a theoretical training about the different parts of the hot air balloon, as a study of the meteorological agents and the internal and external agents of the pilot, as many other things.
The practical training consists in a minimum of 16h flying: 12h flying with an instructor, 10 inflations of the balloon, 20 take offs and 20 landings. The formation also includes a solo flight of 30 minutes supervised by an instructor.
The Camins de Vent school has started with the training of 4 pilots. Currently students are in the theoretical training period, receiving classes at the headquarters of Camins de Vent.
